Plastic Card Design Templates & Artwork Guidelines
Use the downloadable drawings below to prepare artwork for printed plastic cards, magnetic stripe cards, ID badges, key tags and gift card hangers. Confirm the selected drawing, card dimensions and construction with Vigor Smartech before final artwork approval.
Prepare Production Artwork
- Dimensions and bleed: Follow the template cut line, bleed and safe area. Keep text, numbers and logos clear of edges, holes and magnetic stripes.
- Front and back: Identify both sides, artwork versions and orientation. Show the intended position of barcodes, QR codes and variable fields.
- Files and fonts: Supply an agreed PDF, AI, EPS or PSD file. Outline fonts where appropriate and include linked images. Outlining preserves appearance; it does not replace permission to use a font.
- Color: Prepare CMYK artwork for the agreed process and state any Pantone reference or color-critical requirement. A screen preview is not a final physical color reference.
- Special effects: Supply separate, clearly labelled layers for white ink, foil, spot UV and other finishes. Transparent, metallic and wood constructions require their own artwork review.
- Personalization: Provide sample data and the required number, barcode, magnetic stripe or chip-encoding format before production.
Artwork Approval and Samples
Review the proof for spelling, layout, data positions and versions. For new materials, finishes, RFID chips or hotel lock systems, agree a physical sample and test it before bulk production. The approved specification and sample determine the manufacturing reference.
For hotel key cards, include the exact chip or magnetic stripe requirements. Overseas printers can review subcontract card manufacturing and printing and personalization services. Send artwork questions to our production team.
